Review: GLC album showcase

Monday this week I headed down to the Fenchurch Clothing store on in Covent Garden, Central London to check out the exclusive album showcase from Chicago rapper GLC. He’s the dude you may have heard on Kanye West’s tracks ‘Spaceship’ and ‘Drive Slow’. He performed those classics as well as a couple of tracks of his new LP; ‘Love, Life and Loyalty’ (released Oct 12). The lead single ‘Clockin' Lotsa Dollarz’ tore the place up with that down-south hip hop vibe and features arguably the greatest ever Texan rapper Bun B along with Sir Mix-a-lot (‘Baby got back’), who unfortunately weren't present so make sure you check the video!

It was great to see a US hip hop star grace the small intimate surroundings of the store and reminded me of the in-store performances that used to happen in hip hop record store ‘Deal Real’. Warming the crowd up for GLC’s peformance (besides the endless supply of free drink, shoutout to the good folks at Abuelo rum for keeping it flowing!!) were special guests DJs Charlee Brown, Mr Thing, and 279 along side two of my favourite artists in the UK Hip hop scene Mystro and Skandal which in itself was a line up to sell out a club on a Friday night!

I was lucky enough to get a video interview with GLC himself so look out for it on my video channel soon!
